Tips for Better Jewelry Cleaning

Always keep clip wire out of solution.

Clean and dry clip wire if it gets wet.

Clip wire will last longer when attached to basket or ring hanger.

When changing solution always clean blue screen and negative plate at the bottom of bowl.

Conductivity will stay consistent if sedative build up does not occur on plate.

Silver cleaning time 5 to 15 seconds then remove.

Because some metals need different amounts of time to clean. Mixing metals can result in uneven cleaning.

Some silver jewelry does not get clean when placed together in a basket.

This can happen when the items are of different sizes and widths. (try to clean items of the same size together)

Thinner items will need lesser time than the thicker ones.  Items may need to be separated to get fully cleaned.

Jewelry has a bad smell and unit not cleaning.

The solution is no longer effective and will need to be changed. The tank and blue screen will need to be

cleaned and rinsed off.

Certain oxidation may turn orange.

Can be easily removed with silversmith cream or silver jewelry cleaning cloth.

Another short ionic cycle may be used.

Jewelry that has been sitting for decades will not come clean.

The tarnished was placed on the piece over time and will need to be taken off in layers.

This will take several cleanings depending on how many years it took to acquire the tarnish.

Ionic cleaning is effective for most metals except brass, bronze and copper.

Cleaning these metals may cause darkening of other metals cleaned with them.

Start with fresh solution after cleaning these types. (clean these types of metals separately is advised)

Cleaning solution will help loosen oxidation, but will not make them shine. (after cleaning these metals the solution

will need to be changed out)

While cleaning some charm bracelets the jewelry darkens.

Some charm glass beads use copper cores that will darken the silver beads when cleaned together.

     Silver jewelry items may have been cleaned to long. Place back in for a few seconds.

Chains have dark areas when cleaned in a basket.

The unit cleans by changing the exposed surface tension. The chains that are overlapping each other in the basket

can’t be cleaned 100%. (Slight darkening may occur where the pieces touch each other) Try unclasping chain

and attach clip to one end. Pull chain through the solution a section at a time until it is all cleaned.  Rinse and

repeat if needed.

Rose gold jewelry is sometimes hard to clean.

You should always reduce the time you clean rose gold jewelry, because not all types of jewelry

have the same amounts of copper, gold, silver and zinc content.

Always remember to keep water level at the top of bowl so the mixture rate of water to solution stays consistent.

Keep adding water as it evaporates after several days.

Running unit with low solution levels will over amp the circuit board.
